In Indonesia, refugees and asylum seekers often face uncertain futures, lacking opportunities for ongoing skill development. At the same time, the opportunities for Indonesian youths to develop themselves are also always needed. That’s where we step in – offering a transformative program designed to empower and uplift both our refugee and Indonesian community through the power of storytelling and creativity!
we believe in providing a supportive environment where every individual can thrive, and meaningful multicultural exchange can happen. Our program is not just about learning skills; it’s about building confidence, fostering community, and nurturing talent.
Our curriculum is crafted to equip our refugee & asylum seeker and Indonesian students with both hard and soft skills essential for success in the creative industry. From storytelling fundamentals to graphic design, illustration, and videography techniques, our experienced tutors provide essential knowledge while personalized instruction tailored to each student’s artistic touch and needs.
Students will be taught to set personal goals:
Students will learn about storytelling techniques. They will be asked to apply these techniques to their own written and visual projects, reflect on their and others' works, and provide constructive feedback to each other.
They will choose a specialization that befits the storytelling technique they want to pursue: Graphic Design & Illustration or Videography. They will be encouraged to develop their unique artistic style while gaining practical skills that are in high demand.
Students will work together as a team on a client-based simulation project. They will finish refu+school by holding an offline exhibition, where they can share their stories and further advocate their conditions.
As part of the refu+school alumni community, students have access to ongoing mentorship, project opportunities, and software assistance. We are committed to supporting our students every step of the way as they embark on their creative journey.
Through workshops, exhibitions, and networking events,
students have the opportunity to connect with professionals,
showcase their work, and gain real-world experience.
We believe in removing barriers to education. Our program is free & provides students with essential equipment.
